The textiles in this series originated from my imaginative illustrations of the fetus as it inhabits the womb. During the creative process, I used a variety of techniques, including hand-knitting, embroidery, screen-printing, and tie-dye. Each technique enriched the layers and textures of the work, making each piece of fabric full of life and storytelling. The colors I chose for the fabrics adhered to a gentle tone, and even when I used higher saturation, the overall atmosphere remained harmonious and unified, without overpowering the work. This color treatment enhanced the warmth and intimacy of the pieces, perfectly complementing the theme. Even though the fabrics were created using similar techniques, each had its own unique front and back. In this way, I alluded to the theme of twins with the same roots but different destinies, inviting viewers to reflect on life and fate.
When I created these works, I was still in high school and didn’t yet have a comprehensive understanding of the body or motherhood. I chose these themes purely out of interest, without fully grasping the complex meanings behind them. It was in this state of innocence and curiosity that I began my artistic exploration of these topics.
Despite not having a clear research plan, I continued to encounter and understand these themes through my creations, gradually accumulating knowledge and experience. Each of my works became not only a form of artistic expression but also a process of self-exploration and learning.
This spontaneous exploration laid the foundation for my later artistic creations. The way I gradually deepened my understanding of the subject matter during the creative process gave my works more authenticity and depth. Each piece is a record of my thoughts and growth, reflecting my journey from ignorance to understanding and deeper contemplation.
